Communications Magnet program

The Communications Magnet Program promotes a project-based learning approach, which calls for demonstration of knowledge and learning processes through the creation and reflection of projects. This program is marked by technology infused curricula and hands on, experiential learning in the areas of Broadcast Arts and Journalism.

Students interested in the Broadcast Arts will have the opportunity to apply their skills in North Miami Middle's brand new state-of-the-art CCTV studio. Our student-led production team will be chiefly responsible for our on-camera morning news and announcements program. Students will also develop their skills through learning expeditions to local industry professionals like WLRN, and even compete in the annual Theodore Gibson oratorical contest.

Our Journalism class provides Communications students with another chance at collaborative learning, through the publication of our school newspaper. Journalism students will develop their writing, interviewing, and spatial design skills, while helping to keep our school community active and informed.
